About me
Why do you want to be class president?
I've been running for office every year since seventh grade. It started out as a way of breaking my comfort bubble and finding an excuse to meet people. I was shy and insecure so it came as a complete shock when I won my first election in eighth grade. Since then, I've been hooked. I love my job and having the opportunity to make so many new friends. Campaigning has become a really big part of my life- I love the process so much that I'm considering making it a career by majoring in marketing at the McCombs school of Business at UT.
What can you offer as president to the class of 2012?
First and foremost, I think experience sets me aside from everyone else. Besides within the class, I've also held high officer positions in various other organizations including student council, BPA, orchestra, and French Club. I've dealt with difficult sponsors, harsh criticism, stressful situations, etc. There was one year when literally all of my ideas were shot down as deadlines were approaching. It was very frustrating, but I believe it's times like those that made me a stronger person. I also believe my dedication to the job will directly benefit my class. A typical day after school, I take an hour to answer emails from sponsors, update the LHS class of 2012 FB page, plan meeting times, and send out surveys to students for feedback on upcoming events. I keep a planner with dates and to-do lists to keep up with everything, and I check my email every day to be updated.
What are your goals for next year?
Next year is senior year. I'm talking prom, graduation, senior picnic, senior bonfire, senior skip day, senior trips, seniority, seriously. Plus, we're the class of 2012. Everybody's going to remember us. School spirit, your voice, my plans, our year.
